Dr. Galván is Professor of Chicana/o Studies at California State University, Northridge. She has spearheaded various pipeline programs and recently held the position of Senior Strategist for Equity Innovation Initiatives at the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in developing and executing initiatives at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and emerging HSIs nationwide, and was instrumental in launching the Hub's inaugural Community of Practice.
As a seasoned mentor, Dr. Galván has guided countless students through the university application process, helping them gain admission to top universities and doctoral programs. Her commitment to mentorship reflects her belief in the transformative power of education and her dedication to empowering the next generation of scholars and leaders.
Dr. Galván is also the author of three best-selling research methods textbooks with Routledge. She holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in History from UC Berkeley, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She holds leadership positions in a number of non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles area and in her free time enjoys playing competitive tennis and spending time with her young daughter and husband (her favorite travel companions).
